Local Watford girl is selected for the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia - the fourth British dancer to be offered a place in 230 years!

16-year-old Natalie Carter, who trains at the Gypsy Booth dance school, located here at The Centre , is said to be “excited but terrified” at being offered a place.

Natalie has been dancing since the age of nine and secured her place at the Moscow school after being spotted by former Bolshoi ballerina, Svetlana Adyrkhaeva, during a masterclass at the school.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4 she said,
"I was initially shocked and I felt really, really awful, I had been offered a place at Central Ballet School and I was so excited to go there and move to London and be there with all my friends. "But then I got this email to say I was going to be moving to Russia, which is a bit of a difference! It was incredible, but I was in bits and bawling my eyes out."

The Watford teenager can expect around 40 hours of intensive ballet class when she moves to Russia at the end of the month.
